Chippewa County is located in Western Minnesota. It is named for the Chippewa River, which runs through the county.
The seat and largest city are both Montevideo.
It borders Swift, Kandiyohi, Renville, Lac Qui Parle and Yellow Medicine Counties.
Main highways through the county include US-59, US-212, MN-7, MN-23, MN-29, MN-40 and MN-277.
